Manual Brake Conversion Kit, 1994-1995 Mustang
Description
Kit converts an SN95 Mustang from power brakes to manual brakes. Includes new pedal arm, firewall adapter block, pushrod, and hardware. Does not include master cylinder or brake lines.
This kit fits- 1994-1995 Mustang
- 1996-2004 Mustang, except we do not have mounting brackets for the brake light and cruise control switches, or installation instructions specific to the 1996-04 years.
- Direct replacement master cylinders for 1979-95 Mustangs
- Some aftermarket master cylinders. See the list on the Fitment tab for Wilwood fitments.
- Manual Brake Installation Kit or adapter fittings. The MM Manual Brake Conversion Kit moves the master cylinder 6.5" closer to the firewall than when mounted to a 1994-1995 Mustang V8 vacuum booster. This requires rerouting and lengthening the hard lines connected to the master cylinder. MM makes this task easy with our installation kits and adapter fittings that allow easy installation without any cutting or flaring of brake lines.
To maintain safe stopping distances, we strongly recommend that your Mustang have:
- Properly sized master cylinder for use with manual brakes. For expert advice choosing a master cylinder, please use our Tech Services.
- Quality high performance brake pads
- Stainless steel braided brake hoses
- If equipped with rear drum brakes the brake shoes should be adjusted for minimum clearance to the drums. Excessive shoe to drum clearance increases pedal travel. Note that Mustang automatic rear shoe adjusters often fail to work properly; adjust the shoes manually.
- If equipped with rear disc brakes and a stock Traction-Lock differential, the Traction-Lock clutches should be shimmed for minimum axle endplay to reduce rear pad knock-back.
- Adjustable brake proportioning valve
- Stock proportioning valve eliminator or proportioning valve plug
- Quality brake fluid
Aftermarket Master Cylinders
See the Fitment tab for important information about aftermarket master cylinders.
- Direct replacement Mustang master cylinders are readily available from MM, as well as most auto parts stores.
- MM makes master cylinder installation kits that make installing a stock Mustang master cylinder much easier. However, we don't make such kits for aftermarket master cylinders; you'll be on your own to create lines with the proper tube nuts.
